Let’s be real for a second: it’s a weird time to feel powerful. But one of the quietest, most effective ways to shape a better future is by showing up—literally. And this summer, one of the best places to show up for your community (and your co-op!) is at the Creston Farmers Market. The Creston Farmer’s Market will be held every Saturday this summer, starting June 7, which kicks off with a ribbon cutting!
We’re looking for volunteers to help table at the co-op booth this season, and we’d love for you to be part of it.
Why volunteer?
It’s simple: you help spread the word about the Grand Rapids Food Co-Op to new folks who stop by the market. And along the way, you get to:
- Hang out with other co-op members (always a good time)
- Meet local farmers and vendors who care about good food and good values
- Answer a few questions, pass out some flyers, and connect with curious neighbors
No pressure, no sales pitch—just conversation and community.
Wait… will I be doing this alone?
Not at all. You’ll always be paired with a co-op member who’s done this before. You don’t need to memorize facts or give a presentation—we’ll have materials and talking points. The most important thing is to be yourself and share why you care about building a community-owned grocery store.
A few more details:
- Where? Creston West Lot (new location this year— 122 Quimby St NE)
- When? Every other Saturday from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm, there are spots available all summer!
(Note: the market is open EVERY Saturday, but the Food Co-op will be there every OTHER Saturday. Click the Sign up to Volunteer link below to see which weeks we will be there.) - What will I be doing?
- Helping vendors with set-up/tear-down
- Tabling at the co-op booth
- Getting to know other volunteers and market-goers
How to sign up:
It’s super easy— pick a time slot that works for you right here:

Bonus: You don’t need to know everything.
Seriously. We’ll help you feel prepared and supported every step of the way. And let’s be honest—what better way to learn about the co-op than by spending a couple of hours in the sunshine talking about it with friends?

This is the kind of easy, community-centered volunteering that feels good to do. You show up, chat with people, meet farmers, and help grow something that matters.
See you at the booth?
