We are building a community-owned food co-op for the city of Grand Rapids!Imagine a grocery store that puts community before profits and where the owners are your neighbors — these are the values of a Co-op! While many co-ops exist across the nation, Grand Rapids has not had a flourishing co-op of its own since 1997. Together we are working to bring an amazing grocery store to life within our city, where the products and practices reflect our owners' priorities! Anyone can shop in our store and everyone can join and become a fellow owner with equal voting power. Democracy in action in the marketplace!

Together, we will make it happen! Now is the time to join this dynamic group of visionaries and become a founding owner of the Grand Rapids Food Co-op! In order to support building a 10,000 square foot store, we need to have at least 1,000 households join our co-op as fellow owners. With your involvement, you can help us make our food co-op store a reality!

What is a food co-op?
"A food co-op is a grocery store owned by folks in their community (and by you, if you choose). Unlike corporate chains, food co-ops are totally independent and owned by the community members who shop there. So instead of focusing on investors, food co-ops focus on their community — nourishing everyone according to their budget and cooking style." — NCG

How do I join?
Buying your share will help make our co-op grocery store a reality! To become an owner, your household will buy a one-time equity share. The standard share is $250 per household or, if you are low-income, you can buy our Food For All share of $25. Additionally, we offer scholarships to those who are unemployed and need financial support to become an owner. Invest in the co-op by paying your equity share all at once, or pay over 10 months by sending $25 each month (plus a $1-per-month transaction fee). Food For All shares can also be paid over time.
