Describe your Involvement with the Co-op I've been an engaged member of the co-op since July 2021, stepping up to join the top circle in February 2023. I'm passionate about bringing co-op owners together and have been proactive in organizing events to strengthen our community. Notably, I've coordinated several tabling events, revamped our cohort structures, and hosted community potlucks in Creston neighborhood. I'm also a contributor to our social media marketing efforts, helping to publicize our events.
Do you have any other relevant experience? Before fully committing to the co-op, I was an active member of the Living Green Committee at Creston Neighborhood Association. Over the years working in the science community, I've honed my skills in organizing and presenting various types of educational events, from workshops to webinars. I pride myself on being adept at prioritizing tasks effectively in management and engaging diverse audiences with compelling content.
What should the coop's role be in the broader community? I see the co-op as a vital community hub. It’s more than just a grocery store that offers healthy foods; it should serve as a vibrant platform where community members can exchange ideas, share skills, and discover new opportunities. I envision the co-op as a cornerstone for building a healthier, more connected community.
Are there other statements relevant to your candidacy that member owners should know? I have cherished memories of frequent visits to a food co-op in Moscow, Idaho, where I could find healthy food options and enjoy the community vibe. Upon moving to Grand Rapids, and after an inspiring visit to the Flatbush Food Co-op in Brooklyn, NY, I felt even more motivated to contribute to my local co-op. I bring this enthusiasm and experience with me as I seek to serve our community better.
